It is the responsibility of parents to train their children in their own homes so that they will submit to standards when in others’ homes. Their discipline must be constant and firm. Often, parents require the authority of pastors, pastors’ wives, elders, and elders’ wives to bear on their children, whether they asked for it or not and whether they like it or not. Yes, at times, they should take our children in hand and speak pointed words to them. Would that someone had come along to fill the gap left by the sinful neglect of Eli, Samuel, and King David!
