Death is a curse and an enemy. It is not something to be celebrated, and it is not something to be embraced as just a “natural part of life.”
And, as we know, Adam sinned. And Adam died. And so have every man, woman, boy, and girl ever since. We have each sinned, and we are each going to die.
But Jesus Christ came to save His people from their sins. And that would only be possible if He lived a perfect life of obedience to God, and if He took upon Himself the curse of disobedience—death.
Then, just like any other man, Jesus was buried in the ground, which served to confirm and testify that He was truly dead. He humbled Himself to share in the most shameful realities of our existence as sinners.
He took our curse on Himself, so that we might have the hope of eternal life in Him.
