SCRIPTURE READING
John 15:15b Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Who is Jesus’ Father?
Jesus’ Father is God the Father Almighty. Here Jesus says he made known to His disciples “all things” His Father made known to Him. What His Father told Jesus, Jesus told His disciples.
Does this mean that, because God knows everything there is to know about everything, God told His Son Jesus everything there is to know about everything; and because Jesus told His disciples everything His Father told Him, Jesus’ disciples also know everything there is to know about everything? Is Jesus here saying that God the Father, His Son Jesus, and Jesus’ disciples all know everything about everything?
No, this is not what Jesus means. Neither the disciples two-thousand years ago nor Christians today are smarty-pants or know-it-alls.
The “all things” God told His Son Jesus were all the things having to do with our salvation. These “all things” were, and still are today, everything necessary to living a godly life in Christ Jesus. The disciples Jesus is here calling “friends” are to make disciples of all men all around the world, teaching them everything Jesus commanded them.
In other words, the things Jesus told His disciples, commanding them to teach everyone, were not the laws of English grammar or the laws of mathematics or the laws of the State of Indiana, but the laws of salvation in Jesus Christ. That Jesus must suffer and die, and then rise again from the grave on the third day. That all men who believe in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. This is not all of those “all things,” but this is the center of those “all things.”
Scripture: John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

SONG OF THE WEEK
Fairest Lord Jesus
Fairest Lord Jesus! Ruler of all nature,
O Thou of God and man the Son!
Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor,
Thou, my soul’s Glory, Joy, and Crown!
Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring:
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing.
Fair is the sunshine, Fairer still the moonlight
And all the twinkling starry host:
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels heaven can boast.
Beautiful Savior! Lord of the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing to me all that I need in order to know You and to live a godly life before You in Christ Jesus. Help me not to selfishly keep this knowledge to myself, but moved by love, zealously to proclaim the amazing message of grace and forgiveness which You have declared unto man forever in Your Word. Amen.
